Description
The PTFS IT Instructor/Trainer is a critical role for supporting the expanding automated warehouse management system (WMS) services provided to PTFS’ third-party logistics (3PL) clients. PTFS is a dynamic, growing distribution, logistics and transportation organization seeking to enhance and expand its WMS training processes. PTFS currently uses the Manhattan Associates’ Integrated Logistic System (ILS/SCALE) WMS.
The successful applicant must be flexible, self-motivated, well organized, detail-oriented and have experience in a fast-paced environment. The applicant must have the ability to build relationships and work effectively across multiple levels of the organization. They must be able to function effectively within a team context, as well as independently during remote location project work. The applicant must possess a strong desire to learn new technology, software and a passion for helping business users make the best use of IT WMS Applications. The applicant needs to be patient, innovative and persistent in the face of reluctance to change. The applicant should have a passion for continuously improving documentation based on user feedback and frequently asked questions. They should also have the confidence to raise objections, push new ideas and discuss alternatives.
Typical work activities (in addition to user training) will include:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
· Performing regular scheduled WMS training for new and existing employees (in-person as well as remotely via products like Cisco 'WebEx')
· Creating recorded training sessions for WMS users within products like Atomi Systems' 'Active Presenter', Adobe 'Illustrator', and Cisco 'WebEx'
· Participating in testing of new WMS features
· Updating documentation for new features for existing applications
· Responding to user requests for help
· Provide training for data exporting from WMS management reporting and Excel spreadsheets
· Assist Sr. WMS Applications Manager in promoting a training certification process throughout company
· This position is required to travel to all company locations as necessary for training activities.
· This position also shares support and project responsibilities with other members of the WMS Applications team

An individual in this position will need:
· A minimum of 3 years of experience in adult education through creating documentation, designing training sessions and conducting training for business users.
· High fluency in English; excellent verbal & written communications
· Excellent customer service and learning skills
· An overall understanding of Microsoft Office suite of applications, with a minimum of intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel; experience in training and support of user data analysis in Excel.
· Ability to ask probing questions in order to accurately determine users’ knowledge and retention levels.
· Ability to speak to large groups, and to adapt and adjust presentation to accommodate an audience of a wide range of skill levels.
· Ability to relay content in a manner relevant and meaningful to the target audience.
· Ability to travel by personal automobile and commercial airline.
· Ability to lift, carry and deploy computer and presentation equipment up to 25 lbs.
Strongly desirable skills:
· Fluency in Spanish
· Experience with application testing
· Experience with a WMS application within a 3PL environment
Education:
· Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or five (5) years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and experience. Applicant must be able to demonstrate experience designing and administering adult training.
Travel Requirements:
· Primary ‘home’ office sites are in San Pedro and Santa Fe Springs, CA
· Ability to handle a mix of travel destinations and duration:
o travel by personal car to PTFS locations within LA and Riverside counties; multi-day projects necessitating overnight stays infrequently required
o Ability to travel to PTFS locations in California, Washington, Texas, North & South Carolina, Florida, and New Jersey for multi-day training events
· Travel frequency is variable and project dependent; may vary monthly from 5% to 50% of work time
