Manager of Networking and TelecommunicationsJob Description
Summary
The Manager of Networking and Telecommunications is responsible for all the organization’s networking hardware and connectivity as well as the VoIP phone solution. This position will work closely with IT stakeholders to ensure that all business solutions have a strong IT infrastructure foundation. The manager will lead a small team of network and telecom administrators to ensure the network and telecom operations are performing optimally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science; Advanced degree preferred
- Seven to Ten years of experience managing a high performance network and telecom infrastructure with at least five years of experience in a managerial role
- Strong working knowledge of wide area network topologies and VPN technologies
- Demonstrated IT project management experience
- Solid understanding of IT Security best practices with extensive knowledge of firewall, IPS and IDS, logical user access and other means of securing and controlling unauthorized access to data.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure process frameworks such as ISO 27001 and COBIT highly preferred
- Ability to motivate and lead engineering and operational support groups, with a demonstrated track record of building and maintaining highly collaborative, flexible, and productive teams in a global environment
- Working knowledge of VoIP phone solutions is required. Knowledge of the Asterisk solution is highly preferred
- Experience in a retail IT environment or similar heavy transaction environment
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong leadership and organizational skills that inspire team confidence and respect
- Self-starter - Ability to take on multiple tasks and roles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Job Requirements
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a highly reliable network architecture that requires 24x7 availability
- Oversee all network and telecom technology operations that include performance, availability, recoverability, root cause determination, and problem resolution.
- Provide senior-most technical expertise in the discipline of network and telecom engineering, implementation, operations and support.
- Direct the development, implementation and administration of processes and procedures to ensure the reliability, recoverability, and optimum performance of network and telecom infrastructure and solutions
- Manage, mentor and motivate a small global team of network and telecom administrators supporting more than 350 network connections.
- Partner closely with other IT functions to ensure success of key business initiatives through the innovative use of technology
- Develop and manage a high performance staff through education, mentoring and providing continual evaluation of employee development
- Support the strategic planning process for network operations including budgeting and capacity planning
- Manage all network and telecommunications vendors and establish strong partner relationships
- Develop and implement metrics that provide performance visibility and transparency into the network and telecom operations
- Develop and implement a network monitoring team to increase the reliability of the IT infrastructure
