Job Description
The Senior Electrical Development Engineer will guide new accessories through the development process from initiation to production. Provide input on specifications, design criteria and approval requirements. Coordinate with suppliers, customers and internal Mobis resources to see that issues are resolved promptly and projects completed on time.
Successful candidates should possess 10+ years experience in product development for the automotive industry.
Job Duties
The following is a summary of some of the primary functions of this position. Additional duties may be assigned.
· Work with external and internal resources in defining new products, generating proposals and project plans, and developing appropriate product performance and validation specifications.
· Create, maintain and approve engineering documentation such as bills of material, DFMEA, DVP&R, prototype fitments, specifications, and other types of engineering documentation.
· Mentor other Development Engineers on good engineering judgment and processes
· Provide leadership on major technically challenging and/or complex issues
· Manage project plans including key deliverables, timeline, and open issues
· Conduct status meetings with suppliers and customers
· Perform part installations and document fitment, performance and technical issues.
· Coordinate and attend various communication meetings with customers
· Coordinate and/or support APQP and PPAP documentation
· Support installation training events at Ports of Entry and Vehicle Personalization Center
Job Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience.
· Ability to understanding of vehicle electrical and electronic systems
· Experience in vehicle electrical diagnostics
· Experience with vehicle CAN Data Bus and the integration of CAN Data Bus vehicle systems
· Ability to understand vehicle sensors, actuators and control systems
· Ability coordinate wire harness design and approve designs of outside vendors
· Ability to properly size vehicle wiring and fuse protection
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Advanced analytical decision making
· Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical information to the customer
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project and general computer usage.
· Working knowledge of Computer Aided Design Software, CATIA.
