Job Description
The Associate General Counsel – Marketing supports the marketing organizations and online businesses of Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Kmart Corporation. This position will work on marketing and promotions, marketing research, ecommerce, and merchandising contracts, and provide advice on marketing practices and advertising.
Job Requirements
•Advise on statutory and regulatory requirements affecting the business
•Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, codes and legal requirements
•Review relevant business processes and provide direction to business partners
•Resolve regulatory inquiries and investigations
•Negotiate and draft contracts, correspondence and agreements
•Advise on relevant corporate governance issues affecting the marketing organization
•Assist with claims and litigation support and advice
•Apprise business and legal partners of pertinent legislative and regulatory developments
•Manage legal and business risks
•Provide practical legal advice that furthers business strategies/objectives
•Manage pre-litigation dispute resolution
•Develop policies, forms and training materialsJOB COMPETENCIES:

•Strong knowledge of business and laws applicable to marketing organizations

• Demonstrated ability to provide effective guidance on legal issues to business clients.This position interacts regularly with business clients at all levels of management including the Executive Leadership Team, with colleagues at all levels in the Law Department, with outside counsel, and with regulatory agenciesQUALIFICATIONS:•Relevant legal experience in marketing
•Juris Doctor, admission to practice, and minimum of seven years experience in relevant areas of the law in private practice or a corporate law department
• Demonstrated exceptional professional and academic achievement
