Job Description
This role is responsible for supporting the Kmart apparel business for the online format. This associate is responsible for the management of the online assortment, financial plan, and in season execution of the online inventory strategies. This individual works closely with the full line inventory team, full line and online merchandising teams, marketing and logistics to significantly improve communication, profitability and maximize the online customer experience. This associate must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and be able to prioritize them in accordance with the challenges of a rapidly changing retail environment.This position reports to the Strategic Development Manager - Online. Due to the complexity of the business the recommended tenure for this position is 18 months.
Job Requirements
•Partners with merchandising teams to develop the online assortment based upon online merchandise strategies and category trend analysis
•Ensures the online assortment, financial plan and promotional plan are supported by the appropriate level of receipts and inventory
•Creates an online financial plan by category and maintains the financial forecast for current trends
•Monitors weekly business financials to make better business decisions
•Participates in weekly business reviews and communicates current trends, opportunities and risks to the business
•Partners with the merchandising and marketing teams to support promotional events, determine specific impacts of activity on sales, and adjusts inventory flow accordingly
•Analyzes promotional results with the merchandising team and provides recommendations for future promotional activity
•Facilitates seasonal post mortem review process with data and analysis
•Expertly utilizes the appropriate tools and levers to optimize in-stock and minimize non-productive inventory
•Drives liquidation of liability inventory through use of appropriate tools
•Provides recommendations to maximize profitability including stock to sales ratios, promotional activity, and markdowns
•Partners with merchandising teams to develop merchandise exit strategies
•Maintains productive and supportive working relationships with cross functional team members
•Leads others to adapt processes, solutions, successes, ideas, etc
•Makes quick, intelligent, fact-based decisions
•Takes responsible risks to find lasting solutions to difficult problems
•Engages in continuous teaching about system capabilities and supply chain processes
•Performs complex and highly detailed work with accuracy and precision
•Incorporates situation analysis, problem diagnosis & operations analysis to support business decision making with financial analysis
•Develops associates through interviews, selection, coaching, mentoring, performance management, talent management and succession planningRequirements
•Bachelor’s degree required with a focus on Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering or related field
•7+ years experience in Inventory Management or similar field
•Prior experience in online business preferred
•Strong analytical skills
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Detail oriented with strong managerial, planning, organization, and project management skills
•Strong understanding of supply chain principals
•Demonstrated knowledge of industry practices and current trends
•Ability to mediate differences of opinion and facilitate resolution when conflicts arise
•Sell motivated with the ability to work under pressure
•High flexibility and able to multi task
•Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
•Working knowledge and experience of Merchandise Planning, Inventory, and Retail systems
