Job Description
Software Asset Specialist will be involved in the life cycle management of software acquisition, compliance, maintenance renewals and life cycle planning, costing and savings.
Job Requirements
Specific Duties
•Perform all software asset life cycle activities associated with best practices for software identifying, license compliance checking, reconciliation, maintaining & tracking, installations and retirements.
•Identify savings opportunities wherever, whenever they occur: prior to renewals, during software audits, at time of removals, in project planning sessions, in budget meetings. Follow through with vendors and Sears Associates to obtain identified savings.
•Identifies over-deployments, which require the acquisition of additional rights
•Manage contracts and relationships to maximize value creation and costs for software licensing, maintenance, and service offerings.
•Facilitate the business’ needs for ongoing technical support and upgrade protection on selected products by ensuring that maintenance, support and upgrade protection renewals are managed/handled/ordered in advance of their expiration.
•Assist with charge back activities.
•Participate in all change management activities for approving, declining software changes based on ordered or available licenses.
•Collect information for budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contract summaries, and cost comparisons. Notify client immediately of all software license compliance issues related to retained software.
•Develop, implement and maintain software asset management tools that support automatic discovery and facilitate effective deployment and re-use of assets and provide a common view of information.
•Enter and maintain accurate license procurement and contract information in the Asset Management system to address budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contracts, and cost.
•Perform ongoing software asset audit to validate that data in the database is accurate and current. Provide reports of software asset audit results. Identifies over-deployments, which require the acquisition of additional rights
•Assist in the development of reporting to address management requirements to obtain information.
•Provide, recommend and help implement remediation plan for software asset deficiencies
•Respond in a timely manner to requests from end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific software asset questions, issues and data information.
•Communicate through email, individual interviews, teleconferencing, one-on-one, group meetings, and presentations to end users, management, developers and vendors.
•Introduce new ideas and processes that will improve performance and productivity.Key Areas of Competence

•Collaborates any software asset issues with Finance, Legal, Procurement and Security
•Organizes, manages and executes multiple priorities and/or projects by using appropriate methodologies and tools.
•Has strong functional knowledge of popular application software like Adobe, Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Cisco.
•Helps solve problems with the ability to encourage others in collaboration without taking over.Language
•Fluent EnglishRequired Education and Experience
•Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT Software Asset Management
•Experience with an IT asset management system
•Experience analysing and providing cost savings information
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Audits
•Minimum of 2 years’ experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions
•Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with Compliance
•1 year experience in Retail preferred
•ITIL v3 Foundations education
•ISO 19770-1 practitioner preferred
•Experienced using MS Excel
