Job Description
This position will be required to maintain all MHE within the Distribution Center and supervise the 2nd shift Mechanic - Conveyor B.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for maintaining, diagnosing and repairing equipment and machinery, including but not limited to; PLC's, Dematic MDR (Motor Driven Roller) conveyors, powered Dematic roller bed Conveyor (1 mile), powered Right Angle Transfers, hydraulic sorters, lift trucks, air compressors, plumbing, lighting and electronic systems. 2. Communicates with all levels of management to keep them informed on all maintenance issues and provides solutions. Ensures there are no mechanical/maintenance roadblocks to operations. Attends meetings as required. 3. Analyzes expenses to ensure budget goals are met. This includes pay data, labor, and expense reports to determine reason for budget variances. 4. Responsible for the inventory and purchasing of all parts and services required to maintain conveyors in full working condition to ensure that internal/external requirements are fulfilled.
5. Maintains VF standards, OSHA, environmental and manufacturer standards and codes to ensure all federal and state regulations are successfully implemented to meet requirements. Ensures the maintenance area is organized, neat and clean. Identifies and acts immediately regarding any safety hazards, spills etc. Uses safe lighting techniques and operates powered equipment in a safe manner. 6. Performs carpentry and millwork as required in safe manner at all times. 7. Manages mechanical staff to ensure performance goals are achieved and VF policies are maintained. Ensures all shifts are adequately staffed and plans work accordingly.
Job Requirements
Education/Experience: Years of Related Professional Experience: 8+.
3+ years working with electrical / mechanical drive systems. 3+ years of MDR conveyor maintenance experience.
Skills: Must be available for emergency calls during all shifts. May be requested to
return to the job location without advanced notice.
Industrial/Trade School courses/certifications.
Able to read and understand blueprints/CAD.
Ability to interact with all levels of management with confidence and respect.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience and proficiency with WMS (PkMS) or other comparable WMS, RF and MHE
technologies.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English (Bi-lingual -
Spanish preferred)
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Ability to balance and prioritize competing demands.
PLC Trouble shooting
Special Requirements: Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours including weekends as
necessary.
Bend lift, open, and move product from 1 to 50lbs.
Warehouse environment: Must be physically capable of working in conditions
normally associated with a merchandise warehouse or distribution center, such
as, but not limited to, warm and cold temperatures, seeing and hearing moving
equipment to stay out of harms way, and continuous power equipment noise.
