 Description

In an uncertain economy it is extraordinary to find a company enjoying the growth and excitement that we do here at Vitamin Research Products. As part of that continuing growth we are looking for a Packaging (Bottling) Supervisor at our Carson City, NV location.


Job Summary:

The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for the accurate completion of a wide range of production and personnel activities such as: schedules, quality, productivity and cGMP/SOP compliance within the Packaging department.  Schedules and coordinates the activities of the personnel assigned to packaging to ensure both timely completion and quality of orders, as well as interfacing with both internal and external customers to ensure the smooth and timely flow of information and product.  Supports the Production Manager with all aspects of assigned personnel, equipment, production, paperwork and quality, while maintaining a safe and pleasant working environment.


Examples of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises personnel which typically includes; recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluations, training, work allocation, and problem resolution
  • Ensures that safety training is provided to staff and that proper safety practices are followed at all times
  • Ensures that cGMP/SOP training is provided to staff and that all SOP’s appropriate to the department are followed at all times.
  • Oversees the completion and documentation of work performed by staff; guides and assists staff as necessary with complex tasks, and performs quality inspections of work as appropriate.
  • Prepares and maintains records on all department activities
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
  • Interacts professionally with the public, vendors, peers and staff; maintains effective working relationships and works in cooperation with management team to effectively meet departmental objectives.
  • Enters data into VRP computer system.
  • Provides input into the development of the operating budget for the assigned area of responsibility; assists in the monitoring and tracking of expenditures for the department.
  • Ensures adequate stocks and serviceability of necessary supplies and equipment; recommends purchase of materials, supplies, and/or equipment as appropriate.
  • Monitors and coordinates the accurate and timely fulfillment of manufacturing orders
  • Keeps job descriptions up to date
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 RequirementsDesired Skills:

  • Read, write, speak and comprehend English
  • Excellent working knowledge of basic math, including metric weights and measures
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, at all levels within the organization
  • Team Oriented - being helpful, respectful, approachable, building strong working relationships and a positive work environment, is responsible, honest, and loyal, interacts with others tactfully, resolves conflicts appropriately and adapts to change.
  • Proven ability to act as a “coach" and motivator
  • Requires ability to formulate, give, take and follow directions, demonstrated time management skills as well as organizational development and improvement skills.
  • Computer proficiency and an understanding their relationship to modern manufacturing
  • Good working knowledge of processing machinery
  • Good understanding of chemistry as it relates to the manufacturing process.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and inventory control.
  • Demonstrated reliability and attention to detail.
  • Experience with the nutritional supplement/agricultural/food products industry.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a manufacturing environment
