Job Description
We are working with a leading Global corporation who is as well known as "the" place to work as they are for the "quality" of their product. Over the last 2 quarters their orders have been the highest in their corporate history. They have asked us to assist in their search for a Senior Power Application Engineer at one of their South Carolina facilities. Reporting directly to the Application Engineering Supervisor the position requires a strong background in Power Systems, with an understanding of reactive power compensation. As an Application Engineer you will be responsible for the proper application of capacitor products, assuming a lead technical role in the development of solutions for the customer reactive power needs. You will be responsible for:
---Reading customer requirements/specifications and using this information to determine a low cost capacitor solution. Solution development will also require interpretation of system studies to determine equipment ratings and parameters needed to address transient overvoltages, harmonics, and/or power flow issues at the customer's power system.
---Developing specifications for buyout materials needed for the overall solution and working with the Purchasing group to obtain vendor quotes.
---Working and consulting with the Structural Engineer to determine structural cost estimates.
---Discussions with customers for specification clarification, or to better understand customer needs.
---Becoming trained in and acts as an expert in capacitor applications to assist Marketing and provide customer support.
---Performing calculations to determine proper capacitor ratings based upon application, including determination of total bank kVAr, capacitance, in-rush/out-rush calculations, unbalance calculations, etc..
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
---BSEE is required. MSEE desired.
---3+ years of hands on professional experience with Electric Power Systems or Electrical Power Equipment.
---MS Degree in Electric Power Engineering as a replacement for two years of previous professional experience is accepted.
---Fluency in the English language is required.
