Payroll Consultant
The Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group is a large, multiple-specialty medical group affiliated exclusively with Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States, Inc (KPMAS). KPMAS is a non-profit health care organization providing medical care to almost 500,000 members in 33 primary, specialty and diagnostic medical facilities located in Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia. The corporate office is located in Rockville, Maryland. At this time we have an excellent, challenging opportunity for financial professionals.
In this role, you will perform all activities necessary to execute timesheet and payroll processes. You will be expected to provide technical expertise in order to maintain, develop, implement, and manage payroll-related data for internal and external users. You will serve as primary backup to the senior payroll manager and payroll administrator.
Qualifications include the following:
- Four-year degree in a business related field or equivalent training and education beyond high school diploma
- Three to five years of prior hands-on, in-house payroll experience
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
- Experience with Ultimate Software (Ultipro) payroll application preferred
- Extensive knowledge of all applicable federal and state payroll and employment laws
- Excellent data analysis and problem solving skills and the proven ability to investigate, analyze, and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to multi-task.
- Ability to exercise considerable discretion and judgment in handling the highest level of confidential information.
- Demonstrated experience working successfully in a detail-oriented, fast-paced, team environment
- Prior experience with relational databases and report development using various report writing applications. (e.g. Cognos, Crystal Reports, SAS, etc.) Strong to expert working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Access.
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and communicate well with all levels of employees up to senior executive level
- Must possess excellent organizational, customer service, and communication/presentation (written and verbal) skills
