Our client is a publicly traded industry leading biotechnology company. The firm generates $500 million in annual revenues and is headquartered in San Diego, CA.
The Director of Accounting will be responsible for the daily operations of our US accounting department as well as management of the month end close process, corporate consolidation and coordinating the month/year end close of our international subsidiaries. The Director of Accounting will also be responsible for development of the global accounting policy and management of the global ERP system. Additionally, the Director of Accounting will be responsible for working with international counterparts and outside accounting firms to support the worldwide accounting close and statutory audit processes.
Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Controller, the ideal candidate will have professional experience working within both a publicly traded company and a public accounting firm dealing with complex issues and transactions. The successful candidate will be able to work and communicate effectively in a team environment interacting with all levels of our organization, international team members and external auditors. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Manage daily US accounting activities, including review of journal entries and monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
- Support the monthly close and statutory audit process for all international subsidiaries.
- Drive accurately and timely the month-end close and worldwide consolidation.
- Prepare and/or review audit schedules and coordinate deliverables to external auditors.
- Work closely with FP&A group to support budget and forecast processes.
- Support SEC reporting process, including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy, and other filings as necessary.
- Perform technical accounting research and draft white papers to support positions.
- Be a subject matter expert on relevant US GAAP and international statutory accounting requirements; communicate those requirements within the US and international accounting teams.
- Assist with M&A due diligence and integration and as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- CPA is required.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience working in a combination of public accounting and a publicly traded multinational corporation; 3+ years of recent management experience.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, SOX and international statutory reporting.
- Experience working with large ERP systems and proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- May require minimal travel.
- Personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential information
